Monarch Place Services and Programs

WINGS exists to provide women and children in need the opportunity to gain strength and to live according to their true worth.

Through Monarch Place Transition House, Chrysalis Place Second Stage Program, WISHES support groups, two outreach programs, and our counselling program, we offer shelter and support to women and children fleeing domestic violence.

Monarch Place Transition House

Our priority for service is for women who are in danger of being abused and need to hide. Many women who are having trouble with a spouse need a place to stay, but don't need our security. We are here primarily for women and children who are living with the abuser and need to leave the home and be hidden. Our program can best deal with a woman who is currently in danger and needs immediate help.

Monarch Place:

• Is equipped to welcome 12 women and children at one time for a maximum stay of 30 days.
• Offers a safe and secure environment.
• Is staffed 24 hours per day by caring professionals trained to help women and children through crisis and transition.
• Is able to meet immediate needs of food, clothing, and shelter.
• Is a vital support through counselling, referrals to other agencies and networks in the community, life skills training, and advocacy assistance.
• Offers "The Butterfly Room", a children's program that provides a safe and caring atmosphere for children in the house.

Chrysalis Place Second Stage House is an 11 bed residence offering a one year subsidized residential program designed to support women through an intensive recovery and healing process with the goal of creating safe independent living.

W.I.S.H.E.S. (Women in Safe, Healthy, Empowering Support) is a curriculum-based ten week community support group facilitating the journey to wholeness and healthy living.

W.I.N.G.S. Multicultural Outreach Services provides specialized support and advocacy services to multi-cultural women living in the New Westminster area. The program offers assistance and advocacy with income assistance, legal proceedings, and affordable housing, as well as support at appointments. They also provide public education initiatives to raise the awareness of the effects of violence against women.

W.I.N.G.S. Housing Outreach Program assists women to attain safe, secure, long term housing stability. The program offers identification and provision of immediate needs, support in finding affordable housing, connections to supportive community resources when they relocate, and help in navigating any necessary legal or court processes.

W.I.N.G.S. Counselling Services offers confidential, non-judgmental counselling in a relaxed and safe environment for women, families, and friends affected by domestic abuse. WINGS employs faith-based counsellors who are registered and certified and experienced in working in the area of domestic abuse.
